Engineering Test Manager

The Role

The successful candidate will have strong quality assurance and test engineering experience in an Agile environment, and will be looking to apply their knowledge in an exciting company, delivering core platform and web services and APIs in Java and JavaScript

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for test management of iterative product development projects using Agile Testing Practices.  This includes the following:

·         Leadership, coordination, coaching and mentoring of the test team

·         Involvement in resource planning, project prioritisation and scheduling processes

·         Improving and enhancing the existing agile test processes, packs and frameworks, drawing on your own experiences and those of the team

·         Maintaining a close relationship with the development team to ensure effective testing

·         Creation, monitoring and communication of quality and test metrics to both internal and external stake holders

·         Advocacy, development and support of automated acceptance tests for all test requirements

·         Analysis of project requirements for review and test case identification

·         Design and execution of functional and non-functional tests

Essential Skills / Experiences

  The successful candidate will have:

·         An excellent academic record and a technical degree at 2:1 level or above

·         Real enthusiasm for creating an environment that supports creativity, ownership and quality

·         Clear understanding of test automation techniques, limitations and use as applied to agile environments

·         Experienced in driving quality assurance and test activities and improving practice

·         Proven experience of testing under one or more of the following development methodologies

v  Scrum

v  Test Driven Development

v  Extreme Programming

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills at a business and technical level

·         Excellent test planning and co-ordination skills

·         Exceptional team player able to work in a demanding and professional environment

·         Experience of analysing user needs and requirements to identify and define project test plans and functional and non-functional test cases

·         Performance testing experience with particular attention to system resource utilisation and message latency

Desirable skills

The following would all be advantageous in this position:

·         ISEB Qualifications

·         Experience of creating and managing JUnit based automated acceptance test frameworks

·         Experience of integrating & testing large-scale network communication and API products

·         Previous development skills, particularly utilising Java and/or Javascript

Tool set experiences including:

·         Continuous Integration System: Maven, Jenkins, Bamboo

·         Fault Tracking System: Jira

·         Java Testing Framework: JUnit

·         Version control: Perforce, Subversion

·         Web Testing Tool: Selenium

·         Configuration and management of Linux, Solaris and Windows test environments

Previous Experience

CV must demonstrate solid personal progression.  The candidate will be required to work in a small team in an occasionally high pressure environment when project development deadlines have to be met.  Past experience must show that the candidate has worked to tight deadlines and is capable of delivering quality work on time.
