Overview:

The Oracle Secure Global Desktop (OSGD) engineering group is part of the Oracle Virtual Desktop Integration group and plays a key role in Oracle's Virtualization and Cloud .  The OSGD team, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire are responsible for the full product life cycle activities associated with releasing and maintaining the product.

Job Description

We are looking to recruit a software engineer to work in the OSGD engineering team.  As a member of this team you will have responsibilities for the build, installation and packaging processes for OSGD.  You will ideally have at least 3 years experience in a similar release engineering role and be capable of taking on a future lead release engineering role with the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities

* Full responsibility for the OSGD product build and installation process
* Manage and maintain product build environments and processes
* Integrate installation, setup and configuration changes required to support new product features
* Assist with the adoption of new Source Code Control Management tools and processes
* Formulate and maintain education, support and best practice documentation for the development team with regard to build processes and tools
* Liaising with the Oracle translation group ensuring delivery and integration of translated resources
* There may be opportunities to be involved with general feature development and maintenance

Applicants should meet some of the following requirements:

* Computer Science degree
* Experience of the software installation process, ideally cross-platform including Microsoft Windows, Solaris and Linux
* A very good knowledge and practical experience of UNIX shell scripting (Bourne Shell, TCL, Perl)
* Understanding of UNIX and Windows code build environments
* Familiarity with set up and configuration of Operating Systems including Windows Server, Linux, OS/X & Solaris
* Experience of server platform configuration, OS installation and server virtualization technologies
* Experience in TCP/IP network configuration and virtualization technologies
* Experience of Source Code Control Management tools such as CVS and Subversion
* Experience of automated build environments such as Hudson would be beneficial
* C/C++/Java Software development skills are desirable but not necessarily a core requirement
* Be an effective communicator, capable of dealing with people at all levels
* Be capable of working to tight deadlines
