The Role
• Continue to strengthen/develop long term customer relationships with key accounts
• Act as reference point and provide consultancy on E-Commerce initiatives
• Ensure customer service is provided at all levels
• Build relationships with Major stakeholders in specific high value corporate accounts
• Translate customer requirements into system functionality requirements
• Maintain regulatory/compliance requirements in line with group policy
• Manage and control credit risk requirements
Key Accountabilities
• Manage key relationships effectively and seek to meet contribution targets
• Produce annual account management plans for each client, identifying opportunities for introduction of new service offerings and increased revenue
• Adhere to Credit Stewardship process and ensure principles are robustly embedded
• Achieve objectives set for revenue growth (new business) and merchant retention
• Assist with steps to reduce costs
• Promote Group services
• Lead in the management of major complaints of issues arising from merchants
• Hold regular service and account review meetings with merchants
Skills & Experience
• Relationship management/business development of large International merchants
• Experience and exposure to key personnel within major / Multi National organisations
• Understanding of the Cards industry with special knowledge of the acquiring arena
• Awareness and understanding of the key factors surrounding the industry i.e. Risk, Interchange, Scheme rules and developing payment technology
• Appreciation of the technical side of acquiring e.g. systems, software, and communications
• Basic understanding of Credit Risk principles
• Previous experience of working in a card processing and or technology business would be beneficial
• Building personal relationships is key. Being the main contact for merchant means that the individual will get involved with solving merchant’s problems and identifying potential problems. The acquisition business, particularly at corporate level is highly competitive with very fine margins resulting in significant swings in net income recovery levels
• Capability of negotiating multi-million pound contracts at main board level with Finance Directors and Treasurers of FTSE 100 companies. The individual must therefore possess the presence, and technical skills to be seen as credible. The acquiring partner has a strategic relationship with the merchants and also has the breadth of knowledge to be able to proactively advise and inform the merchant on card issues that impact on their business
• Deep understanding of the online E-Commerce industry
Other
• Understanding of all aspects of multi currency card acquisition including authorisations, processing, and settlement
• Understanding of the key cost drivers within the WorldPay business i.e. interchange, scheme fees, settlement, and funding
• Good understanding of the technical platforms and payment services provided throughout WorldPay
• Understanding of the risk aspects of acquiring certain categories of merchants e.g. E-Commerce, mail order, travel, and computers
• Knowledge of the card scheme rules and payment processes as they affect merchants
• Working knowledge of the hardware and software solutions available to merchants
• Business English is required, and additional foreign language skills desirable
• Affinity with technology as systems knowledge will be need to be developed (internet payment technology)
