The Role

We are looking for an experience Server Platform Administrator / Engineer to join our Technology Enterprise team delivering the server platform and services for the UK and ROW. You will be an active and effective member of the Data Centre Services team participating in the shaping the continuous improvement of the server platforms services functions. You will also:

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure that the support and administration of Production including Pre Production Environments (PPE), Test and Development physical and virtualised server (platforms) to agreed performance, and cost metrics
  • Proactive management of the WorldPay platforms environments and recommendation of measures to improve service delivery to the WorldPay customer base and ensure that database systems are kept as current as possible within an economic model
  • Evaluate system performance and produce reports to recommend and implement platforms improvements as appropriate
  • Produce and sustain currency of relevant technical and operational process and procedure documentation for Production, PPE, Test and Development platform environments
  • Provide effective cover for other members of the platform services team as required during absence
  • Rapid response to and resolution of WorldPay database incidents
  • Management and implementation of upgrades to platform services, fault diagnosis and resolution for platform issues
  • Escalation of critical issues in accordance with designated process and procedures
  • Deliver platform services to agreed Service Level and Operating Level Agreements
  • Take part in callout rota to cover overnight support and be available for out-of-hours work when required
  • Participate in discretionary projects/engineering tasks as agreed
  • Development and Automation of platform processes and procedures
  • Manage installations and software upgrades to ensure databases are kept as current as possible and that license audit is performed and all licenses are in place
  • Manage the configuration and operation of WorldPay platform services and data models
  • Ensure that WorldPay Information Security policies and guidelines are adhered to for all platform services
  • Interface and maintain relations with other WorldPay IT teams
  • Deliver reporting on platform performance metrics

Skills & Experience

The successful incumbent will come from a financial services background, ideally merchant acquiring or online payments, and have a proven background in Server Platform Engineering including:

  • Excellent Production, PPE, Test and Development technical platform administration skills on Unix and Windows Server platforms using Oracle and SQL, with virtualised environments including VDI and secure remote access services
  • Control management and supervision of third party service suppliers
  • Strong technical background in platform Support / Development in a similar environment and payment card industry
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with methodical approach to fault resolution
  • Ability to develop relationships with other WorldPay Technical and business groups
  • Good organisation and communication (both written and oral) skills
  • Self-actualised with good teamwork skills
  • Proven experience in areas with strong customer focus and high expectation
  • Excel in ideas generation, evaluation and prioritisation; customer and partner engagement
  • Platform Technical Capacity, Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning
